Tonight's National League North game against Buxton has been postponed due to key areas areas of the pitch being frozen including a goalmouth.
Following scans on Monday, we can sadly confirm that during the Blyth Spartans game Callum Hawkins ruptured his ACL and torn both his lateral and medial menisci, meaning that his season is over.
In 31 appearances, Callum kept 15 clean sheets and played a crucial part along with Jake Weaver last season as Leamington finished the campaign with the fourth best defensive record in the league and this season on his own with Brakes also boasting the fourth best defence in the National League North.
Brakes manager Paul Holleran said "Callum had a scan this morning, and had the consultant speak to him this evening. Hopefully he will have the operation within a couple of weeks. He's in good spirits, he's positive and we'll support him in every way we can. Personally we’re gutted as he's had a similar injury and recovered well, and from a football point of view we’re gutted as he’s been one of our top stand out performers this season. He’s at a great club in Burton and they’ll do all they can for him. He'd like to thank everyone for their support over the last couple of days, and we'll support him all the way."
We wish Callum all the best in his recovery and know he will come back stronger. He, as well as Gavin, Jackie and Chloe, are part of the Leamington family and are always welcome back any time at Your Co-op Community Stadium.
Further news on our goalkeeping situation will be announced once confirmed.
