(Match Abandoned with 44 minutes played)
Evostik Southern League Premier Division
Tuesday 17th January 2017

An entertaining clash with Kettering Town was brought to a premature end as floodlight failure returned to haunt Leamington once more on Tuesday evening.

In similarly frustrating circumstances to the postponement against Chesham United in December, the exact same lights went out with just moments to go until half time, forcing Referee Gareth Hubbard to take the teams off earlier than planned, and with no solution to the problem in sight after the interval the decision was taken to abandon the game.

The visitors had taken the lead from the penalty spot courtesy of former Brakes midfielder Nathan Hicks after Courtney Baker-Richardson had brought down Liam Canavan just inside the box on the left. Backed by a large noisy following, Kettering certainly had the better of the chances, but Leamington felt they were denied a penalty of their own prior to Hicks’ goal when Ahmed Obeng went down as Liam Bateman challenged him from behind, only for the Referee to wave away the claims.

Brakes now face a second rearrangement whilst trying to discover the cause of the problem which has caused such inconvenience across two games.
