We are ecstatic to be able to relay news from Paul Holleran that our right back, multiple player of the season award winner and fans favourite Dan Meredith has agreed terms with the club to begin his sixth full season with us.
The 25 year old initially linked up with Brakes on loan from West Bromwich Albion in early 2020, joining permanently at the beginning of the second covid curtailed season of 2020/2021.
Having patiently waited for his chance, Dan has easily been one of our most consistent performers ever since, something that has been acknowledged by the fans, his manager and team mates as he has scooped several player of the season awards.
Now, despite overtures from a National League club to secure his signiture, the former Scotland Youth International has further cemented his status at the club by deciding to stay in Warwickshire for the new season, and his manager could not be happier:
'Dan has probably been one of the best right backs in the National League North over the last few seasons,' said Holleran. 'He has been a model of consistency in every season for us - even last season, when his campaign was disrupted by injury, and yet again, despite other clubs coming in for him, he has shown what it means to him to play for this football club and these fans, by choosing to stay with us, and we could not be more delighted. He is important to our team and to me, and is a great lad to work with.'
The man himself had this to say: 'I’m very happy to sign for another season. After a slightly frustrating season because of a few injuries I picked up it was a proud moment for myself to make 200 appearances for the club.
We’re in a great place to kick on after the record points tally last season, and seeing the new teams in the league this year it’s going to be another great challenge for us that I’m looking forward to.'
Dan is pictured with the manager and skipper Adam Walker, receiving a momento of his 200th appearance for the club in the final game of last season. Here's to many more!
