Paul Holleran has advised that Joe Magunda is the latest player from last season's squad to return for the forthcoming Southern League Premier Division season.
Only injuries have prevented Joe from topping 200 appearances for his home town club since he linked up with us in 2012, and he was unfortunately hampered by little niggles last season which saw him fall just short of 50 appearances. Nevertheless, he remained a key member of the squad both in midfield and central defence, and will surely top that double century of games in the Gold and Black early in 2016/17.
Two players who will not be joining up with the club again next season are Ben Mackey and Rob Ogleby.
Ben returned to Brakes again last summer after a short break from the game towards the end of the previous campaign, and finished the season as our top scorer with 23 goals, giving him an impressive total of 80 from 152 appearances.
Said Holleran of his departing striker: 'After a conversation with Ben we both decided it would be best for us to go our separate ways. For him to come back the way he did last season and score the number of goals he did was superb. He has been great to work with, a true professional who always does everything properly, and I wish him all the best in the future.'
After just a season at Leamington, Rob Ogleby will be leaving the club as he is relocating to London. 'Rob was unfortunately hampered by injuries last season but he showed in spells what is he is capable of,' said Holleran. 'He was a massive influence around the place, a great character, and he will be sorely missed.'
Also leaving us to take up a position as First Team Coach at National League North side Worcester City, is Ian King, who linked up with us part way through last season to assist on the coaching side.
'Ian has been offered a role at Worcester which he has decided to take up,' said Holleran. 'I wish him all the best as he progresses with his coaching career, and thank him for all his efforts for us both on the training pitch and on match days. I am sure we will be helping each other out as things go along.'
