Paul Holleran highlighted the need for the club to mix up its recruitment strategy after working hard to secure the services of promising youngster Jiah Medrano this week.
Jiah has spent the last two seasons with Shepshed Dynamo in the Northern Premier League Midland Division, but signed dual registration forms with Nuneaton Borough towards the end of the campaign, making his debut in Boro's derby fixture at Tamworth.
The 20 year old also completed a scholarship at Yeovil Town prior to linking up with Shepshed closer to his Leicester home, and is comfortable playing at full back or in midfield.
He is eager to prove himself at a higher level, saying 'It is an honour to join Leamington. I had a few options but meeting Paul Holleran and listening to his plans convinced me that this was the place to be.
'I will always give 100% for the badge, the fans and the team, and I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting started. It's a big season for us all, and together we can make it a successful one.'
The manager was very pleased to have been able to get the signing over the line, saying 'Our recruitment this year will be a mixture of players from the level and above, but also 2 or 3 that we feel are the right age that have performed really well at Steps 3, 4 and 5. Jiah is one of those players, and was highlighted as one of the best defenders in a tough division last season. He's young lad that we've watched a few times last year and he's performed very well. He's taken a similar path to a few players and has gone and got good experience at Shepshed, and the next step now for him is hopefully to come to Leamington and step up. We are very much looking forward to working with him.'
We would like to welcome Jiah and his family to Leamington Football Club, and hope that he has a successful and enjoyable time with us.
