Manager Paul Holleran has advised that Brakes will be travelling to Alvechurch and Racing Club Warwick as part of their preparations for the 2019/2020 season.
It has been almost 13 years since we made the short journey to Lye Meadow for a fixture of any kind, a 3-3 draw early on in the 2006/07 campaign which ended with a league and cup double. We went 3 goals up just after half time in that game thanks to a goal from Stuart Herlihy which was sandwiched by a double from Adam Knight, but 'Church, whose side contained a certain Callum Gittings plus fellow future/past Brakes players Lee Chilton and Keith Rostill along with Ben Usher, who had started the previous season at Leamington, stormed back to level things up.
The Worcestershire club have had a hugely successful last few years having jumped two levels from the Midland League to the Southern League Premier Division, and they came within 90 minutes of a shot at promotion to the National League North only to be beaten by eventual Super Play Off winners King's Lynn Town in the Play Off Final.
We will visit Alvechurch on Saturday July 20th, kick off 3pm.
Our nearest neighbours Racing Club Warwick enjoyed their most successful season since winning promotion to the Southern League 30 years ago last time out. Managed by former Brakes player Scott Easterlow and with our former striker Ben Mackey still banging in the goals up front they will compete at Step 5 again this season. We will visit Hampton Road on Tuesday 23rd July looking to retain the Tony Horley Cancer Charity Cup that they won last pre season with goals from Kieran Dunbar and Checkaine Steele securing a 2-0 win. Kick off is 7.45pm.
