‘With the point at Curzon last week we knew we’d be ok, but it’s that tight, the league, that you can be up and down very quickly. I said last week before the Curzon Ashton game that these last four fixtures, we needed to approach them in the right manner because we didn’t want the season to go flat. We want to keep pushing, especially at home, and finish as high as we can, score a few more goals and be positive really.

‘For the majority of the game today I thought we did really well. We were disappointed with their goal obviously because it was something we had spoken about. We vacated an area and it was a good finish by the boy.

‘There was certainly a bit of an end of season feel about the game, there’s no doubt about that, but apart from the first half an hour we were bright and bubbly, and there were some really good individual performances today. We went to Alfreton earlier on and at that point, it was the biggest smash and grab of the season. I’ve seen Billy Heath’s teams over the years and they’ve been successful and they’ve done well. Last week has possibly knocked them a bit but Alfreton can’t forget, they’ve still improved from where they’ve been. They had a good cup run, they’ve just faded a little bit but he’s done a decent job and it takes time - like Stockport - it’s taken Jim Gannon time to build a good side, it doesn’t just happen in six months or whatever, and knowing Bill like I do and having seen his sides, it will take him a bit of time but they’ll be ok.

‘I was delighted with the lads today though, there were lots of 7 and 8 out of 10 performances out there. We knew we would have to be physically strong in the middle of the park, we knew the centre halves would have to be physically strong against Richard Peniket, but I thought that if we could win our fair share of first and seconds and get the ball into the wide areas there’d be a bit of space to play, and I thought that whether it was Ahmed or Jordan or Elliot, they were all really good today, we scored some good goals. I thought Colby Bishop really led the line well today. We’re trying to get him to get him to mix his game up and not be so predictable, and that was a complete number 9 performance today. We’re three points better off, we’ve scored a few good goals, so it’s been a really good day for us against a good side.’
