Congratulations to Brakes boss Paul Holleran, the recipent of the Manager of the Month award for January 2021!
Despite only playing two league games in January, Paul Holleran's men picked up 4 points against two high flying teams. The month was welcomed in as Leamington hosted Gloucester City on 2 January, a Junior English goal was enough to get a point against the league leaders. Goals from Taylor Allen and Dan Turner sunk the heroic Chorley, fresh off the back of a famous FA Cup win over Derby County, as Leamington ran out 2-1 victors at Victory Park to ensure they would stay outside of the play off places on goal difference. Brakes only played one more game in January as a result of the suspension to the league season as they knocked Kettering out of the FA Trophy in a game for the history books. A thoroughly professional Brakes performance got the job done despite three Kettering red cards and a floodlight failure which meant the game ended at 23:16!
Thoroughly deserved gaffer... Viva!
The manager had this to say on receiving the award:
'It's always nice to receive these awards as it is a reflection on how we have all done as a group. Despite all the uncertainty and stop-start nature of the season we can all be pleased with what we have done as a group. We've put a close knit squad together with some great young players; we've helped another lad back into full time football; we've put in some really good performances against good teams in the league. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong last Saturday at Hereford, but that shouldn't detract from our good performances in previous rounds, so I am happy to collect this award on behalf of the group. We are just hoping for some clarity now with what happens moving forward with the season.'
Entry to the weekly draw costs just £1
