‘Obviously the bad start to the game is what has cost us….. It’s been creeping in a bit lately, we’ve conceded some poor goals, but to be two nil down after barely seven minutes… I couldn’t believe it to be honest. It was similar to last week here - poor goals conceded from our perspective, not defending zones or areas correctly, not planning on second balls… you can’t start games like that. It’s flitted in and out this season really where we’ve had spells where we’ve conceded poor goals and then we’ve worked on it and got back on it again. These were two games, Hereford and today, where we’ve had enough chances, enough play… because in between it all we’ve actually played quite well. We got in some good areas, had some good opportunities and sadly we just haven’t taken them. So there was lots of positives from that point of view, but you can’t play at this level of football being two nil down again or like we were last week, chasing the game. We’re chasing too many games. We’ve shown plenty of character, plenty of spirit to get back into things and to make a fist of things but we’re just making things really really hard for ourselves, and when you look back at the game again we’ll be disappointed again that we haven’t got anything.
‘The way Blyth play it will always be quite an expansive game, they’re a good side with a good manager, and I’ve enjoyed watching them when I’ve been out watching games, but they give you a chance, and it’s probably as well as we’ve played against Blyth, but we’ve ended up losing it. There were some good performances, similar to last week. I think looking back on it now we’ve had some good performances, good periods in both games, and we’ve ended up with one point. We cannot start games like we did today.’
On Callum Gittings’ injury:
‘He’s rolled his ankle, but the way it’s ballooned up it looks like there’s some ligament damage there, which is a blow. He’s been really good for us this season.’
