With the manager preoccupied at the back of the coach with the card school, and Tim Holland asleep, we spoke to the National League Norths’ best physio Mr Pete Denham to get his thoughts on the afternoon’s events…………
‘We’ve got to be pleased with the point, especially after the second half showing last Saturday at Southport. Obviously we’ve still got Connor and Hoody suspended for one more game, but we then lost Joe Clarke through illness and this morning we lost Reece Flanagan due to a family bereavement. Then just when you think things can’t get any worse we lose Kieran Dunbar after eight minutes with a knee injury, so under those circumstances you’ve got to say it’s a good point.
We did look tired in the second half but we defended well, I think that’s the encouraging thing, the fact that we defended as well as we have done, but we also caused them some problems too, especially in the first half. I thought we created some great chances in the first half but it’s that fine line sometimes between creating and converting those chances. We’ve said it before though and will continue to say it - any point in this division is a good point, especially on the road. And we’ve still got a bit of a run going….two defeats in thirteen games. While we are aware that we haven’t won for a while you have to look at the bigger picture. The confidence is still there, and we know that we are capable of competing in this league.
‘Stockport will be another test, but we’ll have Hoody back, Connor back…. He came through a fitness test fine today. Hopefully Joe and Reece will also be back. We’ll have to see how Kieran is in the early stages of next week and get a clearer picture of what it is he’s done, but Tuesday will probably be too early for him.’
