Paul Holleran has issued the latest update on his squad as he prepares for Tuesday night's opening pre season fixture at Racing Club Warwick.
'Joe Magunda and Shay Nicholson will be part of the squad again this season, and striker Ryan Harkin, who has spent the last two seasons with Coventry Sphinx in the Midland League, will be doing pre season with us and will be involved in some of the fixtures,' said the Brakes boss. Joe will be starting his seventh season with the club while Shay was regularly involved with the first team squad last season while also turning out for the Under 18's, will be looking to get more first team football under his belt this season.
'Sadly Richard Taundry has left the football club. He was struggling in the second half of last season with the commitment needed due to his job, and after a chat we both felt it would be more beneficial for him to be playing more locally to where he lives.
'It goes without saying that Richard has been a fantastic signing for this football club, particularly in our last two seasons in the Southern League Premier Division where he was consistently one of our best performers. He's a real professional and loves his football, but at this stage in his life he was finding the commute to Leamington three times a week harder and harder. Obviously the level of commitment I expect from the players goes above and beyond that, so it was in Richard's best interests to look for a club closer to his Walsall home. We wish him all the very best in the next stage of his career and he will always be welcome back here.'
The manager has also asked if everybody can help spread the word about the club's forthcoming Community Day on Saturday July 14th, which starts at 11am and features a friendly match between Brakes and Sky Bet Championship side Derby County. It would be great to see as many people down there as possible, there will be lots going on throughout the day and there will be a chance to watch the first team in action in the afternoon.
