Paul Holleran has added a National League North title winner in the shape of midfielder Junior English to his squad as he continues to prepare for the forthcoming season in National League North.

The 31 year old has played his whole career in the top two tiers of non league football and spent last season with Worcester City, making 38 appearances and scoring 3 goals. He walked away with the Managers and Players Player of the Year awards, but other than a loan spell at Brackley Town towards the end of the 2015/2016 season the only other clubs he has turned out for are Moor Green and Solihull Moors. Joining the youth team as a 17 year old, Junior made his debut in November 2004, and as the club merged with Solihull Borough in 2007 he went on to make over 300 appearances, playing in every position except goalkeeper, and was part of the squad that won promotion to the National League in 2016.

The Brakes manager was glowing about his latest recruit, saying: ‘It’s not the first time we have tried to get Junior English to Leamington, it brings to an end probably a six year stalking process! Junior is a player we have admired for a long time. He’s always been in the top two tiers of non league football, his locality suits us, his versatility suits us. Obviously with losing Jack (Edwards) as well, to be able to bring in Junior, who is very effective whatever position he plays in, and with similar versatility but with 10 years experience of Conference football, I’m absolutely delighted to be able to bring somebody of his calibre to the football club. I’m sure he will be a real favourite here.’

The player himself had this to say: ‘I am looking forward to a new challenge at Leamington, and playing for Paul Holleran, who I’ve heard a lot of good things about. The league will be tough next season but I am more than confident we can hold our own with the players and management we have here. I’m also looking forward to playing in front of supporters who always create a good atmosphere.’

We welcome Junior to Leamington Football Club, and hope he enjoys a successful time here.
