Manager Paul Holleran has announced that he has tied up a deal to bring Callum Gittings back to the club after the midfielder left Vanarama National League North side AFC Telford United last week.
The 30 year old midfielder linked up with Brakes towards the end of the last season in a loan deal from Solihull Moors, and helped the team into the play off final. Holleran felt that the chance to snap him up permanently was too good to pass up, saying 'I am delighted to be able to sign Callum on a permanent basis. Obviously we had him on loan towards the end of last season, but in the short time he was with us we felt that he made a positive impact. He's got good quality, good experience and enjoys playing football so he ticks a lot of boxes for what we're after, and we're delighted to be able to welcome him back as a Leamington player and not a loan player.
Callum was with Wolverhampton Wanderers as a youngster, but drifted into the non league game after being released as a 16 year old, only getting back into the game with Redditch United a couple of years later. A loan spell with our weekend opponents Cinderford Town, preceded a four year stint at Alvechurch before their Worcestershire neighbours Kidderminster Harriers offered Callum the chance to turn professional. He enjoyed a 5 year stay at Aggborough, making nearly 200 appearances and scoring over 20 goals before a switch across the West Midlands to the Moors last season.
We welcome Callum back to the club and hope that he can help in the aim of going one better this time around and winning promotion.
