Brakes fans will be delighted with the news that central defender Rob Evans has agreed terms with manager Paul Holleran to remain at Leamington ahead of the new season.
Although he had a watching brief for four games following his move from divisional rivals Halesowen Town in early February, once Evans got his opportunity he snatched it with both hands, becoming something of a cult hero among the Brakes fans with his full blooded, committed performances. Rob also had a useful knack of chipping in with a goal or two, bagging a spectacular free kick strike in a fine away win at fellow promotion chasers Redditch United, while also notching the winner against his former club Halesowen.
'I’ve enjoyed every minute playing for Leamington,' he said, speaking to the media team on his re-signing. 'At the back end of last season I came in to help the lads over the line and we got the job done. I’ve not experienced Step 2 football before, so as soon as we were promoted there were no thoughts other than getting signed up for the new season. It was an easy decision as I felt I settled in well. The gaffa, the lads and the fans have been brilliant with me. There’s some massive clubs and great grounds in the league that I’m looking forward to visiting. Hopefully I can match my performances and have another successful season with the Brakes.'
