Ewan Williams, the goalscoring hero of Brakes' play off triumph, has agreed terms with Paul Holleran to remain at the club for the forthcoming season.
The 20 year old arrived at the club 8 games into the season after impressing the manager enough in an FA Cup tie against his former club Coleshill Town to make a move, having been tracking the player for some time on a recommendation from former Brakes skipper Jamie Hood. Ewan was involved in every game between then and the end of the season, making 40 appearances in his first campaign in Step 3 football, having started his career at hometown club Atherstone before moving up a rung to Coleshill. It is fair to say that Ewan became one of the success stories of our season, taking to a higher level of football like a duck to water, and he capped it off in memorable fashion by scoring the winner in the Southern League Premier Division Central Play Off Final at AFC Telford United - a day that neither he nor the 650 odd Leamington fans present will ever forget.
Speaking to the media team upon agreeing terms, Williams said: I’m delighted to be staying at Leamington for another year, especially with us going back into the National League North. I’m ready for this new challenge and can’t wait to get back working with the lads. Everything about this club; the players, the gaffer, the fans, the staff, make this place special. The support last year was phenomenal and it will only get better, You Brakes!'
Paul Holleran added: 'I'm delighted to secure Ewan's services for the National League North season. He did a fantastic job stepping up from Atherstone then Coleshill, and never looked out of place last season. I'm looking forward to working with him next season, and seeing how he does with us in Step 2!'
