The Southern Premier League Central Golden Glove winner Callum Hawkins is set to stay at Leamington for another campaign, Paul Holleran has revealed.
Since returning to Warwickshire back in September after an ACL injury saw his 2022/23 season cut short, Callum made the number one shirt his own. With sixteen clean sheets in all competitions and just 24 goals conceded in 34 league games, the Hawk provided a base for what was the best defensive record in the entirety of step 3.
A Rotherham resident, Hawkins also coaches our young goalkeepers and even spent his time last Saturday travelling down to the ground to present awards for Leamington Brakes players!
On Callum committing, Brakes boss Paul Holleran said "For Callum to come back from what was a really bad injury in his ACL injury, the second time he has done that, the performances he has put in has been mindblowing. His family's commitment to the club is unmatched, even when Callum was injured and had returned to Burton they still came to watch us and support.
"I'm just delighted to have him and his family with us again next season. He's brilliant on and off the pitch and he deserves to be playing Step 2 football again."
Callum initially joined Leamington on loan from Burton Albion in February 2022, and has also played for Gresley Rovers and Mickleover on loan. He joined on loan again for the 2022/23 season but unfortunately suffered an ACL injury against Blyth Spartans and had to return to Burton in order to receive treatment. He was released by the Brewers in the summer, and returned to Warwickshire, this time on a permanent deal, in September 2023.
"I'm really looking forward to being back for another season," Callum said. "We’ve proved a lot of people wrong in this past season and we finished it in the best way possible on the big stage of the playoff final.
"The club is back where it belongs and I can’t wait to get going again and it’s going to be another great season and I hope that the supporters enjoy it just like they did the play off games!"
