Paul Holleran has moved to strengthen his central defensive options with the signing of Rob Evans from our Southern League Premier Division Central rivals Halesowen Town.
Brakes have coped pretty well since the devastating losses of both Junior English and Jack Lane, losing just once in 12 games, but the manager admitted that the time was right to add a new face. 'We haven't done too badly since losing Jack and Junior but we don't really have anybody else who specialises in the central defensive role. Rob fits the bill perfectly.
'He is experienced, he is a leader, and skippered a promotion winning team last season. Having not been getting the game time he would have liked at Halesowen, he was eager to come and play for us. To be able to continue to compete at the top end of the table we need to have all of our players fit, and when you've got the likes of Jack Edwards coming off with knocks, we knew that we needed to strengthen. Rob will be a good fit for us and we are looking forward to working with him.'
Having turned out for Romulus, where was part of the side that knocked Brakes out of the FA Trophy back in 2011, Rob has also turned out for Stratford, Sutton Coldfield Town, and more recently has had two spells wirh both Coleshill Town and Halesowen, where he was a fans favourtie, along with a stint at Redditch United under the current Yeltz boss Paul Smith.
Upon joining Leamington, Rob said: 'I'm buzzing to join this fantastic club. Hopefully I can help the lads to finish the final third of the season strongly with our promotion push, and get the club back to where it deserves to be.'
