Manager Paul Holleran has announced that sadly Stephan Morley has informed him that he will be leaving the club in order to play more regularly.
The popular left back has found game time difficult to come by this season after an injury ruled him out of the opening half dozen games, along with the form of Louis Hall, leading him to make the decision to end an association with Brakes that began as a 23 year old, early in Holleran's first full season in charge - 2010/2011.
Morley would form part of a defence that served the club well for several seasons, and was part of the team which won the Southern League Premier Division in 2013.
Towards the end of the 2014/15 campaign Stephan left to join Corby Town, where he won another Southern League title. He returned to Leamington in October 2019. In his two spells with us he has amassed 294 appearances, scoring 19 goals, many of them memorable.
'It is bitterly disappointing that Stephan is leaving us after almost 300 games for the club,' said the manager. 'He has been an excellent servant and professional during both spells with us and I have enjoyed working with him immensely. It has been great watching him develop over the years, and he will be sadly missed.
'Stephan has suffered a few setbacks with injuries recently, and he feels that at this stage of his career he needs regular football. I understand and respect his decision.
'It is always disappointing when things come to an end, particularly with players that have been with me for a long time, but in football that is the nature of beast sadly. Stephan and his family will be sorely missed. We wish him well with his next move in the game and he and his family will always be welcome back at Leamington.'
