Former loanee Alex Prosser has become Paul Holleran's second new signing of the close season as he returns to Leamington on a permanent basis.

The 23 year old midfielder played eight times during a loan spell with us last season that was unfortunately cut short due to injury, but made a good impression that convinced the manager to snap him up after he left Brackley Town.

Alex began his career at Aston Villa but has had plenty of experience in the National League North having spent two spells at Brackley and also a season with Kidderminster Harriers.

'It's a group that I know well from my short spell last season that I really enjoyed,' said Prosser upon signing. 'The staff, players and people around the club give me the belief that we can go and have a really strong season this year.'

'Alex is obviously somebody that we were aware of from his loan with us last season,' said the manager. 'He was just a bit unfortunate that he developed an injury early on during his time with us, and as much as he tried to carry on playing with it, we had to pull him out eventually. It was disappointing because he was someone that we really liked. It was something that he was able to sort out early in the New Year and he got back into the Brackley squad.

'He has been in the area for a number of years with Kiddy and Brackley, and is probably different to what we've got (in midfield). He's a real good character, and is probably in the same bracket as one or two others. He'll be disappointed with last year and the injuries but he's in good condition now, he's ready to go, and we're hoping that he can have a big impact for us.

'The two Covid seasons were like two lost years for a lot of the young lads, and with that and his injury last year it's been difficult for Alex, but he's another one that's still young, but he's got plenty of experience both in games and emotionally, so hopefully he can channel all that for us. Certainly as a person he fits into what we want at the football club. We saw little signs of what he can do last time he was here but sadly it was short lived due to the injury, so hopefully we'll get longer periods out of him this time, and I'm sure he'll be a good asset to the club.'

We are delighted to be able to welcome Alex back to Leamington, and hope he enjoys his second spell here.
