Paul Holleran has provided an update on the injury sustained by Kelsey Mooney in our game at Farsley a last Tuesday, and unfortunately it is not good news.
'Sadly Kelsey has done his ACL. You always hope that it will be something less severe, but we've managed to get the scan done quickly and the next stage is to get him in with a consultation specialist, which we are in the process of sorting out. He's a member of the PFA which will help him greatly, and we've already got the wheels in motion which will get him the operation as quickly as we can.
'We certainly seem to have been on the wrong end of long term injuries over the last few years, but if Kelsey can take anything from it, it is that the lads that have been down a similar path have come out the other side, and come back and played the level again. The benefit of the club having been through this before is that we know the process - we know the PFA routine, we know the rehab routine. There are lots of players in the camp that have been through it, so there is certainly a good support network for Kelsey.
'It's very disappointing for him, and as you can imagine he is very down at the moment, but the key thing is to try and get the operation as quick as we can. He is bitterly disappointed - he was having a good season for us, he was improving and was beginning to look like a first team number 9. It's a setback, but it is one that he is more than capable of coming back from, and we will do all we can to ensure he has the support to do that.
The manager had more promising news on Simeon Maye, saying 'He has entered the next stage of his rehab now and will be able to start running again, so that's a positive. It is unlikely we will have him available before the end of the season but he will be raring to go by the start of the next one.
It is hoped that Dan Turner and Stephan Morley will be fit to return to the squad tomorrow as we take on Darlington at Your Co-op Community Stadium.
