Paul Holleran has made his first movements in the transfer market in the New Year by bringing young striker Kyle McFarlane to the club.
The 23 year was highly rated while at Birmingham City, top scoring for their U23 side under our former player Richard Beale before surprisingly being released last summer along with our most recent arrival Josh Martin. He spent several months on the sidelines having suffered a knee injury before leaving Blues, where he then signed for York City, whose manager Steve Watson had trailed him for some time having seen his potential while working under Lee Clark at Birmingham.
Kyle scored within minutes of his debut for York in an FA Cup tie at Irlam. He has most recently been getting game time at our near neighbours Stratford Town and has also been on the scoresheet there, scoring four times in six games.
'I've seen Kyle play many times over the years,' said the Leamington manager. 'He was always very effective and always scored goals. He's had a tough six to eight months with an injury and found it tough to break into the York team, but he's a local boy and has a great appetite for football which we feel is a good fit at the moment. He's come in, we'll have a good look at each other and fingers crossed, he'll do well for us.
Kyle will train with the squad tonight and will be in the squad for Saturday's trip to Kingstonian in the FA Trophy.
We would like to welcome Kyle to the club and hope he enjoys his time with us.
