Today marks 10 years to the day that our manager Paul Holleran took charge of his first match at Leamington FC, a 2-2 draw at Cambridge City in the Southern League Premier Division.
In an era when longevity in one job is rare in football, Paul’s achievement deserves to be celebrated. For a football club to only have two managers in almost 20 years is pretty much unheard of in the modern day game, and long term Brakes have been the beneficiaries of this stability as we have enjoyed many successes both under Paul and Jason Cadden before him.
The two promotions to the highly competitive National League North are certainly up there, as Paul has pitted his team against many former football league clubs and full time sides with resources far beyond our own. Scooping the Birmingham Senior Cup twice in three years has also been enjoyed, given that the previous success in that competition was back in the early 1970’s.
Our Social Media channels have been inviting fans to share their favourite memories of the last ten years, using the hashtag #10YearsOfHollers , so get involved on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
We hope to be able to speak with Paul in more depth about his ten years at Leamington in the coming weeks, but for now here are the remastered highlights (Thanks to Nick Rogers at BrakesVideos) of Hollers’ first two games in charge, the draw at Cambridge and a memorable Senior Cup win over a Birmingham City side featuring Lee Carsley and future England goalkeeper Jack Butland…...
