League sponsors Vanarama hope you will get involved as MANarama makes a very big return!
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
Expectations were high after ending August with three wins on the bounce. It soon turned sour with defeats to Altrincham and Farsley Celtic. A draw with high-flying Chester provided a much-needed boost.
What about the others in September?
New boys Farsley Celtic showed their metal with a perfect month, the only team to do so. Elsewhere, you’re getting plenty of bang for your buck as a Brackley Town supporter. The Saints have averaged four goals a game in September – helped largely by an 8-0 thumping of Bradford (Park Avenue). At the other end, Nicky Eaden has paid the price for Kettering’s poor start while Curzon Ashton extended their winless run to eight.
The high point?
After disappointing defeats to start the month, a big result was needed. Chester provided the perfect fodder for a fighting display and that’s just what the Brakes gave in their ding-dong 3-3-3 draw.
Star performer…
Some say it’s a team game and individuals don’t matter in football. But Josh March deserves some person recognition for his starring role.
From the dug-out….
Paul Holleran branded their away draw with Chester “one of our best away performances since being back at this level.”
In other news…
Paul Holleran completed the return of former Brakes skipper Steph Morley. Boss Holleran is hoping the brick-wall defender can shore up their back line as they look to push on.
How do things compare to last September?
This time 12 months ago is a time easily forgotten. One win against Blyth Spartans was a drop in the ocean with two league defeats and an FA Cup exit at the first hurdle.
What does October look like?
A tricky trip to King’s Lynn is the standout fixture. The Brakes might be glad to have home advantage against Alfreton and Gateshead who have both looked more than handy up to yet this season.
