Paul Holleran has bolstered his squad by securing the return of our former captain Stephan Morley from National League North rivals AFC Telford United.
Having left Brakes as they battled relegation to join Corby Town and work within their coaching set up back in February 2015, the 32 year old went on to play for Brackley Town and Tamworth before signing for Telford in 2018. Having made 9 appearances and scored one goal this season he no longer appears to be part of Gavin Cowan's process, having not been involved since Telford's last win, over Gloucester City on September 3rd, so Holleran has swooped to bring Steph back to Leamington some four and a half years after he left.
Morley's first spell began in the 2010/11 season when he signed from Halesowen Town, and over the next four and a half seasons he made 203 appearances, scoring 15 goals, and was skipper in 2012/13 when we lifted the Southern League Championship.
'We're delighted to be able to bring Stephan back to the club,' said Paul Holleran. 'The opportunity arose at the back end of last week. I'd like to thank Gavin and Telford for helping to make it happen. I think the location of Leamington and the fact that he enjoyed his time here before was a big pull for him in deciding to return.
'I'm delighted to have him back. He was a big part of what we achieved while he was here and he only left due to a full time opportunity at another club. It certainly wasn't a football decision that led to him leaving before, it was the chance to work full time in football which I understood, but it's great that he's back on board, he's a good experienced player at this level and will add to our defensive options.' Steph will go straight into the squad for Tuesday evening's clash with Hereford at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium.
