Panic not, Leamington fans. Delve into the history books and you’ll see that the National League North table in mid-September means nothing.

The first few weeks might not have been to every Brakes fans taste, but sides that do well don’t necessarily have to start at full pelt, it seems.

Take last season for example. Chorley and Stockport County both made it out – but both finished a way away from where they were at the 10-game point.

The Magpies had pulled clear by nine points and looked for all the world like there wasn’t going to be a title race. Eventually they had to settle for the play-offs.

Would-be champions County were the same. They had to overcome a 16-point deficit to the leaders to finally claim title glory.

And it’s the same for the play-off contenders too. Blyth Spartans had just seven points to their name at this stage last season but eventually, all their huffing and puffing ensured they sealed a shot at promotion come April.

So what difference has a year made to Leamington?

This time 12 months ago, the Brakes were eighth in the league. It’s a different story this season with the club in 14th – but that being said, they have played a game less than most others.

Even with the lower league position, Paul Holleran’s side are only a point worse of than at this stage last season, despite scoring five less goals.

So there’s not reason to be downhearted!

Sponsors Vanarama have recently launched the Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback!
