Having signed Colby Bishop from us last month Accrington Stanley have today added another former Leamington striker to their squad in the shape of Courtney Baker-Richardson on a season long loan from Swansea City.
Courtney left Leamington for then Premier League Swansea City just prior to the beginning of the 2017/2018 campaign having scored the goal that won promotion back to the National League North for Brakes in the Southern League Premier Division Play Off Final against Hitchin Town in May 2017.
Having joined us from Kettering Town in February 2016 Courtney blossomed under Paul Holleran, scoring 28 goals in 74 games in a little under 18 months with us, Courtney scored 4 goals in 21 appearances in the Championship for Swansea last season, and was on the substitutes bench for their opening day win over Hull City last weekend.
Whether Colby and Courtney play alongside each other or are competing for the same starting place it is almost certainly the first time two former Brakes players will have turned out for a Football League club. We wish both players the very best of luck this season at their new club, and hope to see them on the scoresheet regularly for Accrington.
