‘To play as well as we did on Friday was a fantastic start to the Bank Holiday weekend, and then we’ve come back home against a Nuneaton side who sadly have got their troubles at the moment, but it was about us doing things right, applying ourselves correctly, trying to play at a good tempo. I always thought probably with us playing Friday and Monday and them playing Saturday - Monday that we would have fresher legs. I put a couple in the starting line up and then we brought more on after an hour or so. That’s an advantage to us and I think it told more as the game went on, we had a lot of the ball but in a game when you’ve got space it’s quite exciting really, but by then they were probably out on their feet by that stage, Nuneaton, so it wasn’t really a fair reflection of the game as such.
‘As for us this weekend’s capped off a great period for us. We’ve had a really good, strong finish to the season. We’ve been solid, we’ve been scoring goals, they’ve been coming from all angles, and obviously today they’ve come from Colby. He’s had so many assists over the last few weeks, so many good number 9 performances but he hasn’t been hitting the back of the net, but he’s scored three excellent goals today so I’m delighted for him, as I’m delighted for everyone at the club. We wanted to finish off well here, we wanted to finish off with a win and we’ve done that. A few wins, the points tally is great, we’re moving up the table and all of a sudden it’s turning into a very productive season.’
‘It’s a shame for Jimmy Ginnelly because he’s picking up everybody’s mess (at Nuneaton). He’s done wonders to get them to the end of the season really. I know a little bit of what’s gone on there, and I just hope that Jimmy gets to the end of the season and he can start with a clean slate because he deserves it. He’s a good lad, and I’m sure that if he starts on a level playing field, they can do what we did - we went down and it was tough and it was hard, but if you do it right, stick together and all the other bits and pieces, you can come back stronger like we did. It doesn’t seem like that long ago that Nuneaton were top of the National League, so the potential is there, so I hope for the area, and certainly for Jimmy and the lads there that they can do it. It’s a bit sad really, when I first came here you’d have had 1,500 people at these games, so hopefully Jimmy can get Nuneaton back to where they should be . We’re a good example of a club that’s run right on and off the pitch. We’ve got lots of lads who’ve played lots and lots of games for us, there’s good team spirit, good morale and work ethic, we keep trying to bring young lads through, and listen, it’s been a good year for us.’
