Known by all at the club as Batch, Richard Batchelor was one of Paul Holleran's first signings shortly after he took over at the football club in November 2010. Brought in to give the side a more competitive edge, Richard became one of the most popular players of the modern era at Leamington, a true cult figure for his determination and sheer will to win.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win at Banbury United in the February of his first season with us, going on to net some very important strikes in his time at the club, none more so than the goal down at Bideford which clinched the Southern League Premier Division title for a second time in 2013.
Sadly Richard was forced to miss the entirity of our first season in the Conference North after needing an operation to repair his cruciate ligament when he damaged it in a pre season friendly at Stratford Town.
Returning the following season and playing 15 games, Richard decided it was time for a change and sadly left the club to sign for league rivals Hednesford Town. He always vowed to return one day however, and was true to his word, signing dual registration forms towards the end of the 2016/17 season while at Stafford Rangers, and he made substitute appearances in both our play off and Birmingham Senior Cup Final victories.
Richard Batchelor - one of the true modern day Brakes heroes.
