Ben signed for Leamington after completing 3 years at Exeter University in the summer of 2002, ahead of our first campaign in the Midland Combination Premier Division. He was one of our top appearance makers that season as the team finished in a creditable third position in the league whilst reaching the semi final of the Endsleigh Challenge Cup, and the 1st Round proper of the FA Vase in our first campaign in the competition. Ben scored his first goal for the club in the 5-3 home defeat by Continental Star. He did not play for Brakes the following season as he went travelling for a year, but returned for our title winning campaign of 2004/05, playing in 45 of our 49 games in all competitions, second only to Richard Adams in the appearance stakes.
Ben made a further 4 appearances over the next two seasons as his job saw him move away from the area. Prior to joining Brakes Ben played for Stratford Town and Racing Club Warwick prior to University, and for Sorrento in Perth while travelling in Australia. Also turned out for Hellenic League side Chalfont Wasps after relocating to London. Ben is one of many former Brakes players who thoroughly enjoyed his time at the New Windmill Ground, and still keeps an eye on our results.
