Courtney established himself as Leamington’s main goal threat in his first full season at the club, topping off a memorable campaign with a spectacular promotion winning goal in the play off final against Hitchin Town.
The Coventry born striker came through the youth system at his home town club and made his debut for the Sky Blues in an FA Cup 2nd Round tie at Hartlepool United in December 2013, also spending time on loan at Tamworth during the 2013-14 season.
After being released by Coventry, Courtney started the following campaign at Romulus, his performances and goal scoring bringing him to the attention of Nuneaton Town, where he spent a brief spell before joining Redditch United. He began 2015/16 at Kettering Town, scoring several goals before a leg injury curtailed his progress, and finding his opportunities limited upon regaining full fitness, Paul Holleran swooped to sign the young forward in February 2016. Courtney immediately endeared himself to the Brakes support by scoring twice on his full debut in a dramatic last gasp victory at Hungerford Town. He also scored the dramatic late equaliser in the play off semi final at Redditch that season, and opened the scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Hungerford in the final.
After topping our scoring charts in 2016/2017, Courtney was snapped up on a 2 year deal by Premier League side Swansea City, the third striker to join the professional ranks in Paul Holleran's time at Leamington.
