Ben Mackey first signed for Leamington in the summer of 2006 from near neighbours Racing Club Warwick as Jason Cadden set about building a squad that would romp to a league and cup double in the Midland Alliance and take the club back into the Southern League for the first time in 20 years.

Finishing as top scorer in both of his first two seasons with the club was always going to attract attention, leading to Cadsey putting Ben on a contract for the 07/08 campaign, but after Leamington lost out in the Southern League Midland Division Play Off Final to Stourbridge the striker was lured away to then Premier Division Brackley Town. From there he moved on to Corby Town in the Conference North, where his first season was unfortunately cut short by a broken leg.

Ben returned to Leamington for pre season in 2011/12 but was set back by an injury on the 3G pitch at Sutton Coldfield which eventually saw him move on in a bid to gain fitness. He returned to his goal scoring best while at St Neots Town, Stourbridge and Hemel Hempstead Town before returning to Leamington for a third time in summer 2015. Ben finished as top scorer once more but his time with us ended as it had done when he left the first time - after a play off final defeat, this time at Hungerford Town. Regardless of this Ben Mackey will always be remembered as a Leamington great due to his goalscoring exploits.
