Ask any long time Brakes fan to name their favourite players from the early days and the name Darren Timms will inevitably crop up. Signed from near neighbours Southam United in September 2000, he added quality and strength to the midfield, and plenty of goals. He may not have put his name on the scoresheet until his eighth appearance, but he did so with a hat trick in a 9-2 annihilation of Barnt Green Spartak, and went on to hit double figures in his first three seasons at Leamington, falling just two appearances short of a double century in his five seasons with us. Daz was an important part of our squad in the Midland Combination days and was involved in all three promotions, captaining the side on many occasions.
