Steve Thompson was sitting on the bench for our near neighbours Racing Club Warwick when he discovered the stir Leamington FC were making as they returned to the playing field in Division 2 of the Midland Combination, and he quickly made the switch, enjoying three promotions with Brakes. As the more senior players from the early seasons departed, 'Thommo' was quickly appointed captain, which afforded him the honour of lifting the Premier Division shield as we stormed to the Midland Combination title in 2005. 

Taking on more of a player coach role the following season, Steve topped 220 appearances for Leamington, and was definitely one of the unsung heroes of the early years.
