Striker Neale Perry was signed from nearby Kenilworth Wardens to boost Brakes' striking options ahead of what would turn out to be their one and only season in Division 1 of the Midland Combination as they continued the momentum built up from their first season back in the game. 

It took 14 games before he finally bagged a goal for his new club but it was worth the wait as he went on to notch a hat trick in an 8-1 win at Holly Lane. He also scored in the next game against Thimblemill Recreation. Neale had a certain empathy with the Brakes fans because they could see how hard he was trying for the team and how much he wanted to score, and they willed him on in every game.
