Experienced defender Gary Knight was one of the first players Paul Holleran brought into the football club after taking over in November 2009, and he featured in all but two of the 30 games remaining that season, helping to steady the ship as Brakes finished tenth in their first season of Southern League Premier Division football since 1985. Gary was on the scoresheet twice in a 5-3 win over Merthyr Tydfil in February 2010. He began the following season at the club but returned to Halesowen Town in the October having not featured in the first team.
