The competition for places in Leamington’s midfield will be as fierce as ever next season, with Robbie Thompson-Brown and Callum Gittings the latest of our promotion winning squad to commit to the forthcoming season in National League North.
Thompson-Brown returned to the club last summer from Redditch United after spending a brief loan spell with us during the 2012-13 season, and hit the ground running with some eye catching performances early in the campaign. He also scored some important goals, none more so than the late late leveller from the penalty spot in the play off final against Hitchin, and also in the Birmingham Senior Cup Final against Wolves. He has proven to be deadly from 12 yards since taking over spot kick duties, and finished the season on 12 goals.
Gittings gained plenty of Conference experience during a five year spell at Kidderminster Harriers, and signed permanently for Brakes in September 2016 after beginning last season at AFC Telford United. Callum initially joined us on loan late in 2015/16 from Solihull Moors, helping us to the play off final, and he did so once more last time out, becoming more and more influential as the season wore on.
We are delighted to welcome both Robbie and Callum back for the new season. The experience that both of them have of higher level football is sure to be of benefit to us as we look to establish ourselves at Step 2.
