Tom Sidwell became an integral part of Leamington's defence after signing in October 2001. He made his debut in a surprise win at Manor Park over Nuneaton Borough in the Leamington Invitational Trophy arranged by Dave Draper, and helped Brakes to two promotions in his five seasons at the club. Quiet and unassuming on and off the pitch, Tom apparently didn't feel he was good enough to make the step up to the Midland Alliance after a brief spell at Racing Club Warwick with his defensive partner Andy Gregory, but he still made 26 appearances in our first season in the MFA, scoring a memorable goal in a 4-1 win at Alvechurch.
