2017/2018: 7 starts, 20 sub appearances, 5 goals
Liam arrived at Leamington in summer 2017 with a reputation as one of the brightest young talents in the Southern League. Having began his career at now sadly defunct Hinckley United he has experience of the National League North, having been part of the Knitters’ final campaign in the division.
Equally at home in midfield or as a striker, the 22 year old scored 42 goals in all competitions for Thurnby Nirvana in 2014/15 as they finished runners up to AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the United Counties League. This earned him a move to Nuneaton Town for the following season. He joined Kettering Town on loan early in the campaign, and made 80 appearances for the Poppies over the last two seasons, scoring 16 goals, one of which, a stunning long range volley against Biggleswade Town last season, went viral and was also shown on Soccer AM.
Liam's season at Leamington was a frustrating one for him, as he was injured in pre season and when fit found his path to the starting eleven blocked by the returning Jack Edwards, who he had been signed to replace. He still provided some memorable moments however, with goals against Stockport and York, scoring against Harrogate just seconds after coming on as substitute, and providing the assist for Matty Dodd to score the goal that secured our National League North status with a fantastic cross. Brakes fans were disappointed when he did not return for 2018/2019.
