Paul Holleran has swooped to make a late addition to his new squad for the rapidly approaching 2024/2025 season.
The Brakes boss pounced to sign Anthony Lynn from under the noses of other interested parties, handing the promising 21 year old attacking player the chance to jump up two levels to the National League North.
Anthony spent last season in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division with Anstey Nomads, having been banging in the goals for Loughborough Students in the United Counties League for the previous two campaigns. Leicestershire based Nomads enjoyed a storming first season at Step 4, coming very close to winning promotion only to be denied by Harborough Town in the Play Off Final.
With a high number of goals and goal involvements over the last three seasons it was inevitable that Anthony would attract attention from clubs higher up the pyramid, but he has also gained experience in the academy at EFL club Swindon Town from the age of 13 to 18, and has attended training camps at Under 16 and Under 17 level with Scotland.
'We're really pleased to get Anthony over the line,' said Holleran. He gives us the kind of option in the squad that we have been looking for. He fits the profile of player we have been after; he is a good age and has good experience under his belt from his time at Swindon and with Scotland, and more recently at Loughborough and Anstey. His stats have also been very good, and he is a fit boy. We are looking forward to working with him and getting him involved in the coming weeks. I am sure that he will have a part to play with us this season.'
The player himself was delighted to have signed and is eager to get going. 'I’m buzzing to be signing for the Brakes. I’m always looking to push myself and take on new challenges and coming here seems like the perfect fit. When I got the call from the gaffer Paul it was a no brainer. What the club stands for and what they’ve achieved is something that I want to be a part of. I can’t wait to get started and have an impact on the season and push on with Leamington back in the National League North.'
Ant will wear the number 19 this season.
We would like to welcome Anthony and his family to the club, and hope he enjoys a successful time with us.
