Brakes signed up one of the hottest properties in Midlands Non League football in the summer when signing Callum Stewart from Coventry Sphinx.

The 21 year old, who lives less than two miles from the ground and was born in the town, spent time with Brakes in pre season last year having scored 40 goals in the United Counties League for Sphinx, and when he returned there he repeated the feat last season, helping the club into Step 4 for the first time in their history.

Both player and manager now feel that he is ready to make the step up, and we are all very excited to see what Cally can do for Leamington and his career. As the manager rightly points out: ‘Scoring goals is scoring goals, no matter what level you score them at. We are looking forward to working with Callum.’

Callum will be Brakes new number 1 this season, and arrives as our first new signing of the summer, with a reputation as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the area, having helped Walsall Wood into Step 4 for the first time in their history last season as they won the Midland League title.

The 21 year old has previously spent time working alongside Tony Breeden at Nuneaton Borough, before dropping down to Step 6 with Wolverhampton Sporting Community. His performances caught the eye of Paul Holleran, and he now has the opportunity to test himself at Step 3.

Paul Holleran worked hard to secure the services of 20 year old Jiah, who was one of the most impressive performers at Step 4 last season for Shepshed Dynamo in a tough NPL Midland Division, and became our second new arrival of the close season.

Having also turned out for our Warwickshire neighbours Nuneaton Borough on dual registration terms, the gaffer was delighted to get his man, and we look forward to seeing what he can do. Jiah is comfortable at left back or midfield, and previously played in Yeovil Town’s academy.

Josh became our fifth new arrival of the close season when he joined after leaving newly promoted Halesowen Town having been part of the Yeltz squad that won the Northern Premier League Midland Division play offs last season.

The 31 year old can operate on the left side of defence or in midfield, and began his career at Cheltenham Town, spending loan spells at Worcester City and Bromsgrove Rovers before stints with Evesham United and Redditch United, Stourbridge and Coleshill Town prior to signing for Bromsgrove Sporting in 2017. He helped the Rouslers to the Midland League title, and spent four seasons at the Victoria Ground before switching to the Yeltz last season, and another successful promotion campaign. His versatility and experience will no doubt be an asset for us going forward this season.

Henry joined Leamington from Banbury United in the close season, having spent the previous three seasons with our Oxfordshire rivals, winning the Southern League Premier Division Central title in 2022 before helping the Puritans consolidate in the National League North last season.

The 23 year old decided it was time for a new challenge however, and arrives having also previously played for Maidenhead United and North Leigh, where his goals got him noticed higher up the pyramid. He began his career in Oxford City’s youth system.

Henry was a fans favourite at Banbury for his knack of scoring crucial goals, and bagged 19 in 92 appearances despite not always playing as an out and out striker.
